A Little Ray of Springtime Sunshine.

Hi there friends......

Lovely glimpses of springs golden sunshine rays keep dancing across my craft table, outside the abundance of new life sprouting from the earth sooo very desperate to be kissed by the warming friendly sunshine has inspired me to create this warming wall hanging filled with the promise of spring x

And.....
It will be winging it's way over to my/our lovely friend Julie Dodds sooooon
Cos it's that time of the year again

Happy Birthday Julie x
MWAH
xoxo

Ingredients and Method x
I used Tim Holtz's AMAZING tattered-florals die to create the two lush blooms -
I LOVE  Tim's Tattered Florals die
It has 4 yummy flowers
All different sizes
Perfect for all our creations
YeY!!!

the materials I used were......

........scrunched up old brown paper bags
........ tissue paper
........raw rough and smooth linens
........various patterned papers

After die cutting I......
........layered all these together - a pinch here and a pinch there make the blooms burst and radiate upwards and outwards x I love to work the papers in my warm hands too , curling, scrunching, bending till i break dowm the paper's fibres - this gives a lovely worn out tired and old feel to the flowers - hence tattered x

A hot glue gun was my best friend when I adhered all the layers together x

In the centre-ish of one flower i spritzed it with Dylusions ink-spray (lemon) and glued in natural string knotted on the ends.
The other flower has tiny pieces of scrunched up tissue lengths sat in it's centre.
Both blooms have their petals just barely brushed with Tim Holtz distress-paint (mustard seed)

For the leaves (foliage) I have used Tim's FABULOUS tattered-leaves die
Three different shaped leaves
All tattered
'N' ready to rock our creations
YeY!!!

and i stamped out a heart
(a much loVed and used stamp set by Dyan Reaveley)
I think it mingles quite nicely betwix the leaves

The paper I die cut the leaves from is.....
echo park - Primer - This & That
I picked the cards with the words 'growing and special' to die cut the leaves from
And cos I loVes it soooo much
and cos i knows I'll be using it soooo much
(it is such a useful paper)
I've bought 7 sheets to date - WHOOPS!!!

See the tail-end of the heart - I've bent it purposely to add a little extra character!

The tag  -super-scallop-crescent tag (sizzix)
I covered with patterned paper (from my stash)
I created a pocket halfway down too
The pocket was for the seeds packet (local garden centre)

The ticket (own stash) has the sentiment from Tim Holtz's Words-for-thought stamp set x
and if you peep closely you can spy Tim's memo-pin with the fab chit-chat stickers

The heart was hand drawn
and covered with patterned paper (from my stash)

The stamp is an old stamp that I always go back to.....
Coloured in with various mediums

Now to add a little interest to the.....
leaves, heart, tag and seed packet I.....
used the WoWzer brand new stamps from the fabulous Sarah Hurley Shop
.....the Borders set and the Story-Teller stamp set
 with distress inks
antique linen
bundled sage
gathered twigs
squeezed lemonade
The leaves look amazing with the Borders stamped on them - like the leaves veins!!!
after a quick spritz or 2 or 3!!!

i then with the mustard seed distress paint
over-stamp and catch the edges using...
the stamp Laugh by Kaisercraft

Lastly I added the frilly bits
Ribbons
Seam binding from Crafty Ribbons
To get the ribbon to crinkle sooo well....
.....and perfectly coordinate with your creation...
....spritz the seam binding with (desired colour) of Ranger perfect pearls mists
scrunch up into a small tight ball......
.....and hold together with a snappy wooden peg!!
I leave this to dry on my radiator for speed
The beauty of using the perfect pearls mists is you can alter the seam binding's tone if needed
and give the scrunched up seam binding a washed out but shimmery look  x

Sooooo
it's back to the craft room for me
I've got 2 creations on the go at the minute
and oh soooo many ideas bursting to get out
(we deffo need more hours in the day!!!)

OH and you'll be pleased to know
(if you recently won on my 'FFFC!!!' post)
it's a trip to the post office tomorrow - YEY!!!

and thank you for all your lovely comments
I really, really appreciate them all x
Sending huggles

Lazy Summer Salad Days

Hi back in.  Well I have been so busy creating eight projects for the CHA show in Chicago for Craftworkcards that I have very little for now to share with you all - Sorry!  But as soon as I can share, I will gladly!
Today I created in the Delightful papers the Craftworks Privilege club card that sold out within a week in Pretty in Pink.  It is a kit full of faded summer shabby chic with a splash of fizzy zest and so easy to work with. When I had finished the card it's beautiful colours reminded me of lazy summer salad days!!! The blooms are in the new colour way mixed Sweet Pea, Y-U-M-M-Y.  This card has had a great response over on the Craftworkcard Facebook and also on mine so I thought I would share it here on my Blog page.  I hope you enjoy it.
When I'll be back in to share, who knows as I'm busy with more fabulous and Yummy projects with CraftworkCards, lucky me!

Thank you for popping in to see my creations and I really do appreciate all your comments. I will read them all with delight and pop back in to see you too!  And I would like to thank all of you that have recently jumped on board my follow wall, I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy following my creative journey!

Olympic Cupcake

Hi Peeps, thanks for popping in and sneaking a peek.  A BIG thanks for the people who have chosen to follow me this week too.  I have also decided to join Facebook!!!  Nikki at Craftwork Cards gave me the nudge I needed [you can find me by searching for Karen Hayselden] I love Facebook it's so easy.  Thanks Nikki!! x
Well, because I'm so busy with projects for the CHA for Craftwork Cards xoxo {V. V. V. exciting]  I've got nothing new to share with you all at this moment. But bear with,[Piccy's of CHA projects to follow as soon as possible]
So today I decided to do the change my wallpaper on my computer thing!!!  With the Olympics around the corner I've opted for a Patriotic cupcake that I made for Lynn at my local craft shop - The Craft Box.  Lynn bless her saved my life last week,  I needed some spray varnish and glamour dust for the filming of the Craftwork Cards, Vintage Blooms Pretty In Pink kit which I designed and created [You can see this tutorial over on the Craftworks Card web in the video lounge].  There was no glamour dust left, typical she had just sold the last one!  However, she came out from the classroom area with a FULL bottle!  Bless her and a BIG thank you - she had raided her teaching teaching stash and VOILA I was a very happy Bunny.  I must go down to the Craft Box soon before they sell out of their new season Whimsy stamps - I need the lollipop one!

This is the wallpaper cupcake

Well off to continue my Biggi project for CHA, I am doing all the ground work at the moment,  so there is nothing taking shape yet - but all the bit and pieces are lookin better than I imagined [YEY]  I always do the donkey work first, cause there's nothing worse than thinking, I wish I did this or that but you can't however hard you try incorporate your new idea into your creation exactly how you would like to cause the glue has dried solid!!!
Thanks for your lovely comments

Video Lounge - Vintage Blooms Kit for Craftwork Cards

Well I'm back in after 25 days absent.  I've not been on my jolly holidays or ill, but something far more exciting, I have been designing and creating my first project as a DT member for Craftwork Cards and have been 100% in my element.  The kit is called Pretty in Pink Vintage Blooms and I have really enjoyed producing my creations from the fabulous elements within the kit.  On the Craftworks Cards Web Page there is a video lounge where they show you how to create cards from their kits and from Monday the 2nd of July you can view me sharing how to create the Vintage Blooms Pretty in Pink card.  The making of the video was a really fun day - very hard but made easier with help from Julie, Andrew, Nikki and the great camera guys, thank you all for your support.  I haven't seen it yet, fingers and toes crossed for when I peek at it on Monday morning!!!!  I have spied  a Tweet on Craftwork Cards twitter feed that says 'the July Privilege Club Kit and video are just wow!' {Thank you}  Back to the kit -  I made 3 cards for the kit each with a different appeal and could not help myself, with the scraps left over I made a baby easel card too { a very cute number}
I can't pick out my favourite card, let me know if you have a favourite - please! xx

This is my Vintage Blooms card
The Pretty in Pink Vintage Blooms Card

The wreath becomes a beautiful gift

The card still looks stunning when you remove the wreath

Below is my tag design card

This Union Jack inspired card is also a gift card, the hearts tags becoming bookmarks!

The baby easel made from the scraps!!  Cute!!!

Well I'm off to sleep now, it's v v late.  I am going to be Very Very busy again for the next few weeks, but will try to get a blog in if I can, but I'm not holding my breath.  I am sorry I have not been popping in and around to chat even lurk to my blogging buddies I do miss you all.  Bear with me please I will be back to full blogging capacity soon.
Hugs to all

Birthday Boy

Hi ya peeps, I am sat in the Luton Hoo Hotel as I draft this post. Just had boiled eggs for breakfast, yummy! The reason this is a draft at the moment is that my i pad connection is abysmal. Therefore I'm on the i phone posting for the first time. And I thought I would be able to catch up with all my blogging buddies to my hearts content this weekend, how wrong - never rely on technology! Now if I'd have brought my laptop they have high speed Internet access - typical! And I do need to do some catching up as the last two weeks have been concentrated on my daughter with her dancing. The show which she danced in was wonderful, they get better every year.
Now then, here is a little crafty card I am entering into these challenges this week.

  • I have used the red, white and blue theme as for boys/men's cards it always works well.
  • With my promarkers I have coloured in the Molly Bloom images in a stroking action to give the images an almost colour washed feel.
  • The idea behind the card is 'looking through a porthole' - Spellbinders circle nesties.
  • The bunting is also spellbinders
  • Ranger Glossy accents for the windows, knobs and door numbers.
  • Sakura gelly roll - clear star is used here and there to hi-light areas such as flags on the beach hut.
  • Ribbon, cotton, bling and sea buttons are my own stash.
  • Large card - Craftwork Cards craftworkcards.co.uk
